FKCaps: Exciting – If Imperfect – Topre Keycaps Option for Fujitsu Realforce Keyboard

TL;DR: If you like keyboards with Topre switches, there are few aftermarket keycap options. FKCaps has a Minitel-inspired version with a great URSA profile, but the set’s color is off and is inexplicably missing a few keys for my Realforce PFU keyboard – one of the few Topre options. Topre keyboard switches have some of the qualities of cheap rubber dome keyboards and some of the best mechanical switches. They’re quiet like the cheap stuff, tactile like mechanical switches, and smoother and often significantly more expensive than both combined. There aren’t that many keyboards that use them, with most coming …

Seagate Has An Astro Bot 5TB Game Drive Because Gaming is Supposed to be Fun.

If you have a modern PlayStation and you’re adding games this holiday season, you may be running out of storage. Sure, you could buy an NVMe SSD drive for the fastest solution, but large capacities are expensive, and thanks to the ongoing AI datacenter memory shortage, getting more expensive every day. Hard drives are a great way of adding significant capacity at more reasonable prices, but they suffer from being boring. Seagate has solved this problem with a Limited Edition Astro Bot Game Drive. It typically costs around $20 more than the plain white version, but adds more than $20 …

Review: Microsoft “Artifact” Holiday Sweater 2025

When I started this site I promise I wasn’t planning on writing about sweaters, but Microsoft has a modern tradition of selling limited edition ugly tech sweaters and sending them to a few media and analysts. At this point, I have a small collection of the things, so a quick review of the latest model: This year’s #MicrosoftUglySweater, “Artifact,” is not actually all that ugly if you are the type to wear gadget-oriented shirts or socks (in other words, me). It is made of 100% soft-knit acrylic (i.e., plastic that feels like soft cotton) and comes in sizes XS – …

HyperX Cloud Mini wireless solves a key problem for kids’ headphones: kids have to want to wear it

When considering buying headphones for children, most people recognize the need to choose a unit that protects their hearing — typically with an 85 db cutoff that prevents the hearing damage that can occur with exposure to music or noise above this level over long periods of time. However, that is only the start. Children’s headphones also need to be sized appropriately, durable enough to survive at least some abuse, simple to keep charged if they are wireless, can work with 3.5mm headphone jacks (especially for use at school), and are something the child wants to wear. That last one …

73 & Sunny: Simple Solution to Lost Remotes — Make Them Thicker

Sometimes the simple solutions are best. I’m constantly losing my remotes — especially for the Apple TV+ — in between my theater chairs. 73 & Sunny sent over these thick GripStand remote covers. These are cheap ($10 – $20), they can stand up on their own, and the green one glows in the dark. Problem solved. Disclosures: 73 & Sunny sent these cases for review, but Devices View does not accept paid posts or participate in affiliate link programs, and 73 & Sunny had no editorial input.

Review: Edifier NeoBuds Pro 2 with Knowles Balanced Armature Drivers

By Avi Greengart I met with Knowles at CES to discuss their components, and after a few demos I asked that they send over something that uses their balanced armature driver (tweeter) so I could hear it in the real world. A few days after I got back from Las Vegas Edifier sent over these NeoBuds Pro 2. I've been really impressed with the sound quality, especially after I turned off the bass enhance mode (EDM and rap listeners will want to keep it on — it's good, just too much for me). That Knowles tweeter is nicely etched without …

Cleer Scene is a Pretty Versatile Bluetooth Speaker

by Avi Greengart Cleer's Scene is a small horizontal Bluetooth speaker that stands out for its looks and versatility. The swoopy, color-on-color industrial design is absolutely gorgeous, especially in the red colorway that Cleer sent over. It may look round, but it is flat on the bottom so it won't roll away. Sonics are good; if sound quality is your primary purchase driver this isn't the last word, but at modest volumes it plays cleanly with an emphasis on midrange. This is a small portable speaker and doesn't play louder (or lower) than physics allows, but it can certainly fill …

Review: 1More P50

by Avi Greengart 1More is an audio brand that somehow has flown under the radar, despite consistently offering excellent sonics at reasonable prices and getting rave critical reviews. The company's latest earbuds are a bit of a throwback – they aren't wireless, and they don't have any form of active noise cancellation. They even have a 3.5mm headphone jack! Just in case you live in 2023, the P50's do come with a USB-C-to-3.5mm adapter, along with a soft carrying case for the earbuds and accessories so that you don't lose it.1More should lead a seminar on packaging; for $169 earbuds, …

Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 Review

by Avi Greengart Anker has steadily built its Soundcore brand on two key values: sound quality and low — but not bargain basement — pricing. The multi-driver Liberty Pro 3 are one of my favorite sounding earbuds at any price, but they is apparently priced too close to more traditional brands (read: Apple) and the company has been slow to upgrade them with competitive noise cancellation. Instead, it has focused on its more affordable non-Pro Liberty, first launching the $129 Liberty 4 last year (they were fine) and now the $99 Liberty 4 NC. Despite the lower price and similar …

Mini Review for a Mini Speaker: Scosche BoomCan MS

by Avi Greengart The Scosche BoomCan MS came in really handy yesterday when my flight was cancelled, and I needed to spend another night working on the road. This adorable little Bluetooth speaker attaches magnetically to recent iPhones where it acts as a kickstand and bounces audio off the table for a bit of added reverb. It's using the magnets just to attach, not connect or charge; it will connect to any Bluetooth source, not just iPhones. It's tiny, so it's hardly the ultimate in fidelity, and it works better with show tunes and pop than Rock or Metal (Muse …
